One of the actually potentially helpful aspects of the "community" interface is that, when you go to make a posting, and type in a subject, the system pops up some related postings. (Might be helpful if the system did it at a time other than when you are posting something else, but ...)
Thus it was that I discovered a post from January outlining "rankings." There are, in fact, seven "rankings" (and, as noted elsewhere, different levels within those "rankings.") They are Viewer, Reader, Newcomer, Contributor, Advocate, Defender, and Champion. How you get ranked doesn't seem to be mentioned. (The post mentions this is the "current" structure, so I'm sure others can be added above it ...)
Obviously, as a Newcomer, I have only just begun to rankle ...
For those of you eagerly following the story, I can now disclose that, having passed through the "rankings" of Viewer, Reader, Newcomer, and Contributor (three levels each, remember!) (probably because of the number of my postings), I have now achieved the rank of Advocate. (Level I.)
I'm really not sure how I feel about that. I mean, I'm not a real huge fan of the "community." While I definitely try to mentor those who are new to our profession, and advocate for them, I'm definitely more of an advocate for the late, lamented CISSPforum, and it's replacement.
Maybe I should shut up before I reach "Defender" ...
Today I got a notification that says 'You ranked up to Contributor I' --- which came as a surprise since I've held that rank for a few months. The link in it took me to my profile page, where the rank's been elevated to Contributor II.
Apparently the system has a bug relevant to the notifications, so you might want to have that fixed. Thanks.
These are some great questions! While we can't give away the "secret sauce" to how to rank up (so we do not encourage people to game the system) it is all based on activity within the Community. This system is also an automated system to answer that question.
In regards to the notification that you received, I would like to look into that further. Can you forward the notification to me so I can send it to our vendor - you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Let me know if you have any further questions!
Actually @SamanthaO_isc2, it was a notification on the community site when I logged in, so I won't be able to forward anything; I'll send you the details and screenshots on the provided email address. Thanks.
Meditating on the anger management thread, could ISC2 prehaphs add an achievement badge for explosive and sustained diatribes?
I would humbly suggest ‘Grenade Fired Proper’ as a fitting base from which to build such a motif...
