How do Employers Verify Member Certifications?

How do employers verify claims of (ISC)2 certification at the isc2.org web site?

The old site had a page to query using a claimant's first and last names and (ISC)2 member number.

I have searched all over the new site and find absolutely no information on how to confirm that someone holds a current certification.

Please do not respond that certified members should provide the employer with a copy of their digital certificate or Acclaim badge. In keeping with proper direct verification from the certification organization, the employer needs to be able to communicate directly with (ISC)2 for verification, with no intermediate step through the claimant.

Thank you.

@CraginS Thank you for your inquiry. The  Certification Verification tool is located under the "Certifications" tab at the top of the (ISC)² website. This tool requires a last name and the member ID number in order to verify ones membership.

 AH, spotted it. Thank you

By the way, when I looked for it, I searched the site for the word "verify" and that page did not appear. in the first three pages of results.

Now that I know about the link, I searched the site also for "verification."  Again, that page does not appear in that search, either.

It's the same page we use for the CISSPforum confirmations.  We started using it back in the day to try and keep LinkeDin verifications off the list.  (Of course, we also allow old CISSPs, but that relies on the memories of the moderators--always an iffy proposition  🙂

@CraginS Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I will get with our team to see if we can get the search engine to populate for the Certification Verification tool!

Hi, I have tried multiple times on the verification tool, but it is not displaying any results. Also, the page constantly displays - "You are not signed in", even when I am logged in the ISC2 website.

I feel concerned that my certificate can not be verified by my clients / employer.

@rahulgurnani  Please note, that page is case sensitive, so it could be an issue with how you are inputting your last name. Please send me an email or DM with your information and I will look into this issue.

Ummm, really? Are you on the right site/page?
https://webportal.isc2.org/custom/certificationverification.aspx

The site is working perfectly fine for me (and, because we use it for verifying
subscriptions for the CISSPforum, I know it is working for others), and I'm not
seeing the "You are not signed in" message at all.

Another way is to send them to your profile page on the "community"
https://community.isc2.org/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/268706941
and have them check your badges:
https://community.isc2.org/t5/badges/userbadgespage/user-id/268706941/page/1
the CISSP badge shows there.

There's also the digital badge/cert from Acclaim, but I've never used that ...

What page is that?
https://webportal.isc2.org/custom/certificationverification.aspx
isn't case sensitive ...

It is unclear what national interest is served by security
agencies propagating this lurid urban myth [that terrorists have
steganographically hidden messages in pornographic images].
Perhaps the goal is to manufacture an excuse for the failure to
anticipate the events of September 11th. Perhaps it is preparing
the ground for an attempt at bureaucratic empire-building via
Internet regulation, as a diversionary activity from the much
harder and less pleasant task of going after [terrorists].
Perhaps the vision of [accused terrorists] as cryptic
pornographers is being spun to create a subconscious link, in the
public mind, with the scare stories about child pornography that
were used before September 11th to justify government plans for
greater Internet regulation.

Why this Member ID hasn't been changed to "optional"?  Everyone would be able to verify the status of CISSP of a specific person querying by First+Last Name. Or at least the member ID should be publicly queriable. Every police officer has badge# that other people can copy and escalate about any incident or check the status is it a real police officer or crime maker. CISSP members spent a good period of time and investments to be awarded as CISSP members. Some people lost the membership of CISSP by cause of not achievement of the minimal requirements (collection of CPEs, pay for a membership,...) even they've been CISSP members in the past. I have other certificates and everyone can query just for my first+last name to get the confirmation about it.
