Validating someone's Cert

I am wondering how or if I can validate someone's cert?

I know I could do this several years ago, but can't seem to find the link.

Anyone know how?

Thanks

Agreed.  Tbh, I have never used Acclaim and probably never would.

So in my case, I need to check someone who does not use Acclaim, says they are a CISSP yet their linkedin profile shows their status as expired.

Thanks to both of you for the assist.

Best

I have links to my Acclaim badges on my LinkedIn profile but not everyone does, so there needs to be a formal / official mechanism to validate people's certifications.

Yes, I've put them on my profile too, but the sad fact is that not everyone grasps the significance. Employers and their HR should make use of the means provided by the organizations to validate certifications, so I usually facilitate validation information to the employer if needed, with the links below : -

Agreed, it's best to make things as easy as possible for people! The great thing about the old ISC2 verification link, which thankfully still works *, is you can send out a URL with the requisite last name and member ID fields filled in so all they have to do is click on it to see your information.

* The new verification link was down recently and on the page ISC2 had put a message to use the old link!

I'm seeing more and more vendors, and more and more people starting to use Acclaim so it's starting to gain some traction.

How many HR departments actually know how to validate certifications online?

We've had candidates claim to have CISSP or other ISC2 qualifications, who haven't provided membership numbers to allow validation.

Independent contractors (ltd companies) simply hide behind the separation of legal personality and effective vouch for themselves.  Tends to be the case that those who are not transparent tend not to be qualified.

Given the above comments I would suggest that (ISC)² Membership Services evaluate the vendor relationship with Acclaim to see if there is continued value in using digital badges. Like others I believe the best source of truth is from the certifying body and not a third-party.

What does LinkeDin know? Do they do any checking of certs? It's probably just
that the person entered their expiry date and have never updated it.

Just use the check site, last name, cert number.

Acclaim is owned by Person Vue.  As long as (ISC)² uses them to administer the testing, there is likely little incentive to discontinue or change.

Ah in this case, the person in question had definitely marked their certification as EXPIRED which is why I asked how to check (at my age, it's hard to remember my own name.

The ISC2 verification link https://webportal.isc2.org/custom/certificationverification.aspx does not work.

Incidentally, while majority of complains are about actual site, not the community portion of it, I want to specifically mention my beef with community portal.

For the past few years I have been involved with Check Point community that went from 0 to awesome in a span of a year. It was originally based on Jive.

After Jive was gobbled up by Lithium Technologies communities previously hosted by Jive were forced to move their content to Lithium.

This is the same platform that this community is running on, by the looks of it.

After the migration, I am seeing gradual deterioration of the engagements, driven primarily by inferior functionality of Lithium.

the threads are difficult to track, media integration, especially in the body of the post header is non-existent and the formatting, while may be conducive to the mobile browsing, it a far cry from optimal on a larger screens.

Surprisingly, there are practically no alternatives available in this market to chose from. I feel like we were better off when using BBS and IRC.
