Microsoft: The New Jedi Force for Gov Cloud

Microsoft has beaten AWS and won a $10 Billion contract with the US DoD! That sends a strong message on whose Cloud is more secure and whose has the most qualified personnel. Don't be surprised if Amazon pulls their HQ2 plans out of Crystal City.

It also sends a strong message on who POTUS hates at the moment ...

We have all seen the results of when an "executive" gets their way with an IT deal cut on the golf course, but this is US government contracting! Let the petitions fly! Wrap it up in red tape for years or maybe MSFT will just walk away and not bother. As a company they have a strong sense of ethics.

Btw. why didn't anyone complain when MSFT won a $1.76 Billion dollar indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity deal with the Navy last January for "product engineering services"?

I was on the wrong side of a "golf course deal" one time. I had worked long and
hard getting a proper partner for a Very Large Corporation that was trying to get
into the antivirus space. The president of a company that was not even (and
never would have been) in the running took the appropriate VP from the VLC for
golf and got the contract.

It's all covered by NDAs, of course, but if I told you the names of the players I
doubt any of you would recognize them as ever having been in the AV field ...
