CISSP Lapel Badge

Recently I was pleased to receive a pack containing my recertification as a CISSP for another 3 year period. Within the pack was a new lapel badge.  The old green square was now a nice shinny silver oval. A very simple question - is there significance in this or just a change of badge/administrative tool?  There appeared to be no explanation as to why the lapel badge has changed (or did I miss this elsewhere on the site?).

So have not received my renewal package, but originally (way back when pins first came out) the CISSP was a silver oval pin......that changed over time but I for one will be glad to go back to the oval pin......

A silver oval pin?  I'm jealous--mine was just copper ...

Never saw the copper ones, if you still have would love to see it.

Now, so would I.

I know I kept it, but I've checked my lapel pin stash and it isn't there.  I checked my collection of conference lanyards/name tags, and I've got some of the enamel (or, more probably, plastic) dated ISC2 pins, but not the original.

Obviously I've put it away somewhere safe, but I wonder where that would be ...

(These days, when I tell classes that I've forgotten more about security than they will ever know, it's literally true ...)

I still prefer the older green badge, even-though it doesn't reflect the concentrations. The new oval is rather meh in my opinion. From what I remember we aren't supposed to use the old pins but to my knowledge no reason was ever given for the change.
