@Diablobabe You should consider the SSCP instead of Security+. It is similar material with no PBQs (Performance Based Questions) and much less expensive ($249 vs $425, CompTIA recently increased the price $21, 3rd time in a few years, SSCP has been that price for a very long time). CompTIA brags about over 700K certified. That is what is in the job market as competition, most without marketable experience, so differentiates no one as a candidate. Your annual maintenance fee would increase from $50 to $135. Of course with Security+ your fees would be $50 (CC) plus $50 (Security+). The savings on the exam would cover the extra $35 for many years. There are also extra continuing education requirements with both. The SSCP has a 1 year experience requirement so demonstrates that while Security+ does not. The CC and SSCP are excellent stepping stones to the CISSP.
