@Thula Thank you for the explanation. I saw your other post which was why believed that. This one was worded a little differently and wasn’t sure initially. Verify; then trust is definitely important in all things. So I did my research first to determine that. I think that is a fair assessment on the resources provided no cost.. I have heard good things about Mike Chapple’s book which is Sybex which is ISC2’s official study but know your budget is tight. I will tell you that when the eTextbook was released, I did purchase it to be able to assess it to help others. I do not believe that it was enough to pass the exam either; so I don’t recommend that especially on a budget. I am a little different case. When the CC pilot (called ELCC) was happening, ISC2 asked for volunteers. I already had my CISSP. Since 2008 one of my responsibilities is to help our cybersecurity workforce earn and keep their certifications. So I wanted to be able to participate to be able to speak intelligently about it to others as their SME (Subject Matter Expert). I have another friend that participated in the pilot. We agreed that it is not an easy exam but is a fair assessment of general cybersecurity knowledge (no analytical questions like the CISSP). He has a CISSP and was developing a training class for the CC to complement his CISSP training. What I have found is that what throws people off during the exam is that 25 of the questions are beta/pre-test ones on subjects that may have never seen before. I could pick out a couple during mine but have experience in the field and exam content. People who are not aware of that seem to fall apart during the exam. Since you asked about this, I am going to try to look at BrightTalk on the CC. It is where ISC2’s webinars are at. As long as you sign up with your member id, ISC2 applies the CPEs automatically to your certification after earning it. I know saw some things out there but did not research enough yet to know if that no cost resource has enough to make a big difference. You are very correct that most people will need more than what is provided in the no cost resources. Realizing that you are definitely ahead of others in your thinking.
