Well, that attitude bodes well for for the experience requirement.

Nope. Nope, nope, nope.

(Mark and I debate this point ...)

That it is.

Definitely. I figure it is the most interesting, and therefore the most fun, of any
field of technology.

I call it the "community."

(There is a story behind that ...)

a developer - applications security (we need more)
a system administrator - ops
a database administrator - some ops, some app sec
a network administrator - telecom
a general IT manager - security management

You may have to go into detail if you self-endorse. Do you know any CISSPs,
yourself?

Welcome to the asylum ...

Good evening, community.

I've started the journey of getting certified in an information security related discipline, and what better way to do it than with an ISC2 credential.

I've always had the ISC2 in the back of my mind as I progressed through my career (having considered the SSCP a few time), and it finally feels like the right time to explore the journey a bit further.

I've gone from Engineer to Network Admin, to IT SME, to my current role of Cloud Solutions Architect, and with security becoming more and more the topic of conversation, the CCSP is making more and more sense.

I look forward to following and contributing to this platform.

Welcome aboard! Here's a question for you: How is the "Great Firewall" of China technically implemented?

Kia Ora Everyone,

I'm Dean and new in the community. I have been a CISSP since 2015. I started my security career in the Philippines and worked in the biggest Telco company there. Then I moved to the State of Qatar to help build the first commercial security operations centre and now I am living in New Zealand working in the biggest life insurance in the world. My passion for security has grown year on year and I am confident to say that I am still happy and excited to be in this field and profession.

One of the things that I like the most is spreading security awareness to the companies where I have the privilege to work with. Even with the lack of or no budget, I was able to deliver effective awareness by using existing resources.

In my quest to look for a side hustle that will combine my passion for security. I have created the brand named Human Firewall, A Cyber Security Awareness Lifestyle StoreHuman Firewall is a Cyber Security Lifestyle Store that focuses on making people cyber aware through its quality products. My store's tagline is "Cyber Security is a Lifestyle" that's why I thought of a brand that can be part of everyone's lifestyle by putting together custom-designed products like t-shirts, pillows, mugs and more. I am also regularly creating what I call #HumanFirewallTips in the blog section of my website. I have received positive feedback from my peers at work and past colleagues. I am hoping that my brand will also be known and supported by this community.

I am hoping for more collaboration with the community and I am one message away if you need any help or you have any questions.

Stay safe and secured everyone.

Dean

I hold CISM, CISSP and HITRUST CCSFP certifications, with a BS in Computer Science. When I am not working, I am mentoring women (I am the founder of We’R WISE Women in Security & Engineering – Non-Profit Org, and the president of the new ISC2 North Bay chapter (still in the process)), and volunteering at the community center to teach children how to be safe online. I love outdoor activities (hiking, biking, ocean kayaking, ziplining, swimming) and love traveling (traveled 18 countries in the past 2 years).

Hello, I'm Mark.

I work for a defense contractor as a Cybersecurity Systems Engineer. My previous experience is in Software Engineering, and very early on in my career as in network administration and web development. I transitioned to cybersecurity in the software world as my interests tended towards secure software. That eventually evolved towards cybersecurity in general, and while I continue to work in the secure software realm, I also work with operating systems (SE Linux) and security control policies. I recently earned my CSSLP which seemed to be the logical first (ISC)² certification as most of my experience with cybersecurity is in software engineering. I am currently studying for the CISSP and will hopefully be prepared to take the exam before the new changes happening in May 1, 2021. I look forward to collaborating here in this community.

Thanks,
