Invitation to Participate in Research on Continuous Cybersecurity Monitoring Strategies

Hello ISC2 Community! 

My name is Thomas Derr and I am a Doctoral Student at Capella University.  This study is part of my doctoral education program.  I am conducting research on challenges in continuous monitoring for cybersecurity, focusing on successful strategies to overcome IT personnel constraints within small and medium businesses (SMBs).

Purpose of the Research
The purpose of this research is to identify and analyze effective practices that organizations use to maintain continuous cybersecurity monitoring despite limited IT staff resources.

Study Procedures
If you enroll, you will:

• Participate in a 45-60 minute virtual interview via Zoom to discuss successful strategies and real-world experiences.

Time Commitment
Your total time commitment will be approximately one hour, split across the survey (5 - 10 minutes) and the interview (45-60 minutes).

Demographic Questionnaire

You will be asked for your demographic information before the interview.

Incentive
You will not be paid for your participation.

My organization specifically prohibits something like this.  I am not sure why anyone who actively works in cybersecurity would participate.  I guess is more effective than dumpster diving.  I would suggest social media sites.  People are all about social engineering there.  Sorry but a strong No here.

Thanks to all that have applied so far!  I'm still looking for a few more volunteers that are looking to contribute their time and knowledge to helping advance my research into conmon strategies in our industry. If I'm not mistaken, participation in industry-related research is also a means to garner a few more CPE's.
