This is a thread seeking useful terminologies for documentation.
A server is a computer, and a desktop is a computer. Many printers are technically capable of being called "computers", though their application is far removed from, say, program execution. The same would be said for switches or other specialized hardware appliances.
When it comes to naming the aggregate of these appliances (printers, computers, switches, IoT devices), the only thing they have in common nowadays is that they're "networkable objects". This term fits better than "computing devices", and that's why I'm asking if you have a more fitting term to describe such appliances? I almost feel like there's a descriptive term to be created, such as "MAC-bearing", since that would succinctly describe the most common aspect of them all.
