Can you trust google maps?

Apparently, an artist turned on google maps on 99 phones to see what would happen....

The results, Google Maps showed the route to be heavily traveled.

So will you trust google maps in future?

But I thought Google Maps had an AI, is it not conjoined and rather like the Weather channels reviewing the trends, analysis and local reports?   I agree, it does not take into account congestion, or provide up to date information on accidents or the best route, and sometimes it takes you on the most round about route, even if you are walking to the destination too.

No I would not trust it, not enough effort has been put into making it smart.

Doesn't it come down to retaining spatial and situational awareness:

Often if you rely on technology, the majority of driver are directed down the same limited routes, which can get congested.  Having a mental map of the alternative routes helps you to avoid this.  Many drivers don't need turn by turn instructions to get from A to B and it's not a skill I want to hand over to fallible tech.
