Is your job waving red flags?

A job shouldn’t cost you your health, your peace, or your identity. If it does, it’s not a job...it’s a warning.

Most people don’t quit their jobs. They quit the slow erosion of who they used to be. If showing up means shrinking, sacrificing your health, or silencing your voice, that’s not loyalty. That’s self-abandonment.

Emotional intelligence isn’t just about managing emotions. It’s about recognizing when an environment is no longer worthy of your effort, your talent, or your growth.

Choose the spaces that strengthen you. Leave the ones that slowly undo you.

As you contemplate this list, keep these 3 things in mind:

1. A stagnant environment eventually rewires your self-worth.

Staying in a place where you’re undervalued reshapes your internal beliefs. You start shrinking your ambitions to match the environment, not your potential.

2. The biggest red flag is not the stress...it’s numbness.

People think burnout looks like panic, but most often it looks like emotional flatness. When you stop caring, stop feeling, or stop trying, the job has already cost you something far deeper.

3. Staying too long teaches you the wrong habits.

Toxic workplaces reward survival behaviors like people-pleasing, silence, and self-neglect. Those patterns follow you into your next chapter unless you consciously reset.

Read the list one more time with these insights in mind...

@dcontesti   Speak to your mentor, about the situation, and gain fresh perspective regularly.  The realisation that you have been caught in the Lobster Pot Trap and you need to find a way out of it as quickly as possible.

Gaining that realisation is important, so gain fresh perspectives from those around you that you trust.

Regards
