Wait a minute! You mean to tell me that free software doesn't come with risks? Who knew?
and Yes, I am being sarcastic. I have been multiple places where employees thought free software didn't come with perils. They would download it and install it (Which needs some explaining on how they were ABLE to do that) and then act surprised when the security guy came around to remove it. Of course being the good security guy I am I would ask why they needed it and see if we had any approved software to meet their need. If we did not then I would explain to them the software approval process and give them the correct forms to fill out, if they really needed it to do their jobs.
