A well-detailed argument. Of course, the same points (perhaps not to the same extent) hold for most apps:
- They collect more data than they need
- There's no assurance their users are of age or otherwise capable of full consent
- Privacy issues abound
- No transparency as to how the app works (I suppose the exception might be some open source app, but you still never know what happens on the backend).
Ultimately, the challenge in the professional world is by the time kids enter the workforce, they have been conditioned to embrace these things almost reflexively for a decade or more. Bad habits form young.
