What is the value of your data in Australia?

Do you know what your Australian credit card, driver's license, online banking credentials, email address or phone number is worth in the DarkWeb? There's a lot of estimates about the actual cost of a data breach and the value of individual records. Ponemon's global average per individual record is AU$227 and the same number for Australian records is AU$167. For me, these numbers feel realistic but still not very tangible so I decided to do some research on what our data is actually worth.

At the moment your data is worth:

  • - 1 million Australian email addresses - $10
  • - 0.35 million Australian phone numbers - $10
  • - Australian credit card with credit limit 5-10k - $39 (Buy 3 get 1 free)
  • - Australian personal loan fraud package - $52 (Drivers license and editable bank statements/payslips)
  • - Australian passport/driver's license scan - $5
  • - Online bank credentials with pins 50-100k balance - $60
  • - Online bank credentials with pins 100-500k balance - $250
  • - Editable driver's license PSD file for any state - $10

What's probably the scariest on all of this is that these are accessible with very little technical knowledge and that thousands of these items has already been sold.

@Cbhatt   Apologies for the delay, I have fished around, found the original images, but not the piece from LinkedIn.  If it does pop up, I will certainly provide the full reference.
