There's a lot of estimates about the actual cost of a data breach and the value of individual records. Ponemon's global average per individual record is AU$227 and the same number for Australian records is AU$167. For me, these numbers feel realistic but still not very tangible so I decided to do some research on what our data is actually worth.

What's probably the scariest on all of this is that these are accessible with very little technical knowledge and that thousands of these items has already been sold.
