Your data is valuable. At last, It belongs to you according California's CCPA. But do you believe the right TECHNICAL privacy controls are in place to prevent data breaches and misuse of your data in 2020? I wouldn't bet the farm on that. Elasticsearch is the new S3 leaky bucket problem. This dirty little situation is not just caused by IT copying production data into QA environments so that business can do analytics on it, it's about big tech missing the point entirely on Data Governance - they do not know how to handle data. They push the limits every day on misuse and sharing with partners. All privacy programs in the valley are a joke, they have no clout to stop real business from getting done. Data governance is not just about protecting and using using Declared Data responsibility, but more importantly managing the BEHAVIORAL INFERENCE MODELS and the CROSS-DEVICE TRACKING MODELS that they build to profile the masses and target them individually in a multitude of ways. That data tells big tech and in some cases the authorities more about you then you would like to admit. Does it have "portability"? No. Will it change? Not unless we see EXPLAINABLE AI. That's where society needs transparency in 2020.
