Hi and happy new year!
I provisionally passed CISSP in December and submitted the endorsement application. I chose ISC(2) as my endorser and have provided evidence for my employment and listed my experience in the application. I also passed CC in November (sat it as prep for the hard exam), I have paid my membership fees for that and I am currently a member of ISC(2).
I am currently wanting to change job and I want to apply for jobs that either list CISSP as an advantage, or the willingness to sit for CISSP within a certain amount of time after beginning employment.
I like to do everything by the book. Can I mention the below in my cover letter (NOT my resume/CV) when applying to jobs:
"I have provisionally passed the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) exam and I am currently undergoing endorsement, which needs to be complete before full CISSP status is awarded". If not this, is there any wording that I can use to not break any ISC(2) rules in place?
I know this question is probably asked ad nauseam but I didn't see a recent topic and I would like some guidance. Many thanks in advance.
I am in a similar position and am also seeking clarity on what language is considered appropriate for this scenario. Could you please advise?
@roleary20 Congratulations on passing your CISSP exam!
Thank you for reaching our via USC2 Community.
Unfortunately, it is not appropriate for those who passed the CISSP exam to make mention of where they are in the certification process. Once your endorsement has been approved and you have paid your AMF (Annual Mainteenance Fee) you may let people knmow you are CISSP-certified.
However, there is nothing preventing you from sharing the "Provisionally Passed" letter (which you received before you left the testing center) with a prospective employer when appropriate.
I would caution you not to share that letter randomly, and to white-out your ID number before sharing. I see too many nefarious websites that have copied a "Provisionally Passed" letter or a certificate displayed by a candidate and pasted in in a post advertising offers for false certifications or proxy testing.
I can tell you that I see your endorsement application had been received and is in the queue for review. It can take from four to six weeks for endorsements to be processed once they are received. During that time, no progress reports are sent, but if the endorsement team requires any additional infromation, they will reach out to the candidate directly.
Hope this helps.
