2021 Board elections - does anyone care?

All,

The board of directors elections are coming up on Sept. 15th and we (members in good standing as of June 12th?) will be asked to cast our vote for one of the candidates.  I originally thought that I might have missed an email or something telling me about the candidates....but was told about a week ago that the bios were not ready.

Having looked at the list, two of the candidates are current board members but four are new, well three seem to be new and one is a returning candidate (one I believe resigned due to work commitments but then their bio would assist in understanding the difference between now and then).

Also I have not seen anything on the candidates that petitioned to have their names included on the ballot, were they successful or not?  No one knows.

As a Past Chair of the Board, I find the transparency of this election to be wanting.  Who are the candidates, what do they see for the organization, what will they do, etc. and why have we not seen or heard from any of them.

Like in past elections, I expect one or two of them to show up here for a few volleys with the Community and then when the election is done, see them disappear.

So my question to the board, when will we the constituents see the Bios of those folks asking for us to support them.

Good point. I was looking for the bios today and they are not on the website. The only reference I found was in an email sent on June 12th where a list of the nominees was provided. The last published slate on the website is from ... 2018.

I'm not holding my breath at the moment, with the election 14 days out.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your questions on the election.  The bios for the 2020 Board of Directors Candidates are now posted. Per our election timeline, an email with voting instructions will be sent on September 8th for online voting before the election opens September 15th. https://www.isc2.org/About/Board-of-Directors/Board-Elections

If you are looking for a discussion with the candidates, on Friday, August 28th at 9am ET, we will have a "Meet Your 2020 Board of Directors Candidates" post in Member Talk. Member Talk is a new discussion board for (ISC)² members only to discuss all topics related to (ISC)² membership.  Please have your questions ready to post in this discussion thread on Thursday. https://community.isc2.org/t5/Member-Talk/bd-p/MemberTalk. The discussion board will be open through the election.

Board of Director candidates will have a BoD Candidate label next to their name identifying them in the forum.

Thanks,

Graham

I forgot about this and was only reminded when I received the email with the voting instructions earlier today. Did this "meet your candidates" post happen? I could only see one asking for questions.

So the gent from Denmark did showed up (Thomas Krishner) once

Jill Slay did show up and answered a few questions, you can read the responses in the thread. (starting here:

NO ONE else showed up to talk to the members.........so much for that.

I have suggested writing in candidates:  @cragin comes to mind as well as #denbesten Or you

Sad really.

Thanks Diana,

I did read through that thread, but wasn't sure if that was the "official" one Graham mentioned - very sad to see that's been the only participation.

Happy to vote for one of our own, but I'm certainly not looking to throw my hat into the ring!

And now we're 2 weeks past the ending of the vote, and no results have been announced ...

Hey Wim,

They were announced although not with much fanfare!

I created a post about it at the time in the member section after I saw them on LinkedIn:

Maybe they have to take extra time to count the mail-in ballots ...
