"Voice" recognition of CoVID-19?

An engineering college in Tel Aviv is working on a machine learning system to detect "vocal biomarkers" of a COVID-19 infection.

It's an intriguing idea, but I can't help thinking that training dogs to detect CoVID-19 probably has a greater chance of success (and, likely accuracy).

(Or should I have posted this in "OK, now we're in trouble ..."?)

There was an old movie and I think it was called "The Fly" but I could be wrong. Anyways the premise of the movie was that the guy was pioneering a machine that could teleport people across space/time and that during one of his tests of beaming himself across the room a fly got mixed in during the transfer. He used his voice as a password (if I am remembering correctly) and as his body became more fly-like, his voice changed, making him unable to log in to his machine.

I wonder if AI voice technology will be able to adapt and adjust as people age and their vocal inflections change? Or if they get sick, or suffer an injury, etc.?

I suspect that you are recalling the remake, with Jeff Goldblum.

That doesn't happen often, so I really love it when it does 🙂
