"Secret" New Year's Eve party

I wondered if this should have gone into "OK, *now* we're in trouble," but it does seem to have some links to confidentiality, so ...

Well, the police and Beverly Hills authorities seem to be taking it seriously, but it sounded like an urban legend in the making, to me.  I mean, a legit restaurant like La Scala, with a big reputation, flouting pandemic regulations for a New Year's Eve party?  How on earth did they think they were going to keep it secret, particularly with an "invitation" reading, "Please keep this discreet, but tell all your friends"?  One is reminded of the truism that three people can keep a secret only if two of them are dead.
