Windows 7 EOL

Windows 7 today reaches "end of life."  This doesn't mean that you can no longer use it, just that, from now on, it is at your own risk and Microsoft takes no responsibility for vulnerabilities.

Which makes it kind of like every other version of Windows.  Hmmmmm ...

OK, carry on ...

The final Windows 7 patch-Tuesday has been released.  Included in the notes is this tidbit:

IMPORTANT Starting on January 15, 2020, a full-screen notification will appear that describes the risk of continuing to use Windows 7 Service Pack 1 after it reaches end of support on January 14, 2020. The notification will remain on the screen until you interact with it. ...

Note The notification will not appear on domain-joined machines or machines in kiosk mode.

Wow. A "full screen notification"! That's a serious call to action!

Agreed.  Will be interesting to hear reaction from the field if the message reappears periodically.
