Was not expecting a DDoS to affect Azure, but...

With orgs unlikely to expect future operation without connectivity to Azure, it is alarming to know that Microsoft's own defenses to a DDoS attack exacerbated the problem.

Well, you know the saying ... "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me for the 857,977th time, and ...."

What's noticeable by its absence is much detail on what errors Microsoft committed. It's not too hard to extrapolate as to the DDOS mitigations it employs. So what went wrong? Or to my concern, was this Microsoft pushing more out to automation/AI that reacted in an unexpected way?
