There's nothing you can do: you're helpless ...

Yet another story about the Capital One breach.  Headline: "Another day, another data hack — and truth is, there's not much you can do about it."

 

Which really burns me.

 

The point of the article, when you read it, is that there are a lot of breaches, so you will probably have some data disclosed at some point.  Which is true.  But the headline implies that you can do nothing.  Which is not true.

 

The price of using credit cards and having a bank account  is constant vigilance.  We know this.  You can't outsource security (no matter how hard so many businesses try).

Very true; when availing of a service, users willing to accept the risk should always be vigilant, unless they're not concerned about the potential impact on them.

 

The headline should've been : Another day, another data hack — are you doing enough to protect yourself?
