Starz just a wee bit overzealous in copyright takedown notices ...

OK, pay attention.

Some unreleased/upcoming TV episodes have been leaked online, including some from Starz, including some from the "American Gods" series.

Torrentfreak posted an article about this leak, including one still picture from "American Gods."  They then tweeted a link to the article (not the leaked episodes, just the article).  Starz then had Twitter remove the tweet (not the episodes, not the article, just the tweet) citing copyright infringement under the DMCA.

Torrentfreak posted an article about getting hit with the takedown notice.  They had asked EFF (the Electronic Frontier Foundation) for a comment, which an EFF person provided.  And EFF tweeted about that second article.

So Starz had Twitter take down (I told you to pay attention now) EFF's tweet about the Torrentfreak article about the takedown of the tweet about the original Torrentfreak article about the leak of Starz content.

That gets a little removed from actual copyright infringement ...

Was the takedown ordered because it revealed that:

1) a leak occurred and they didn't want the bad press

2) or confirmed that a leak existed and they didn't want people rushing to download it before they got the leak stopped?

Probably the first, since none of the articles or tweets mentioned where you could find the actual episodes ...
