? Reputation of Data Connectors Conferences?

Does anyone have feedback to provide on security conferences run by Data Connectors? https://dataconnectors.com

They run a bunch of regional conferences around USA and Canada, with one coming in about 3 weeks to my locale. Their web site says (ISC)2, along with a number of ISSA and ISACA chapters, are all partners.

I'm thinking about checking it out.

Thanks.

Trade show with a bunch of vendor sales pitches dressed up as "presentations." At
least one or two per event are even amusing.

If you get there early you might score some decent swag.

Lunch is edible, but nothing to write home about.

The price (free) is OK, and it *might* be worth your time. The contacts you
make will be those who are not too busy at work today.

Thanks, Rob,

Hmm, yeah Free would be good. This year they appear to want $100 for the one-day session.

Also, I just noticed this fine printing in an optional a drop down

  • You must register with a valid company email address to attend a Data Connectors event. Incomplete registrations will be removed.

I guess I won't be checking it out.

I suspect that, if you watch your email, you'll eventually get an offer of a free
pass. In other years they have said that, if you don't attend, then they'll charge
you some kind of non-attendance fee. They try and get as much contact and
company info as they can, because that is their real business model: selling your
data to the vendors that pay to buy booth/table space.

AH, there's the rub, since I no longer have a company affiliation, and have not created a consulting LLC identity to get past such filters. Oh, well.
