Apple pressed on legality of eavesdropping

The Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) is engaging with Apple to establish further details on the processing of personal data in the context of the manual transcription of audio recordings collected by their digital assistants and to establish how they believe that such processing of data is compliant with their GDPR obligations,Further to which, DPC will be making its assessments and conclusions.

Looks like Google & Amazon are doing it too under the justification of enhancing voice recognition.

 

Amazon is filing a patent to do away with the "wake word" that triggers the recording. They are also storing the transcribed recordings indefinitely unless you manually  delete them ?  I suppose friendly Alexa announces this requirement?

 

It is time consumers wake up to these deceitful practices and vote with their wallets to keep them under control
