Us old-timers have unusual amusements when we show up at conferences (to make up for the fact that we've heard all the presentations before).
Dr. Eugene Spafford (aka spaf) at RSA this year, with some friends, was remonstrating with a kid at a booth that his company could not secure all computers, as claimed. The kid started to riposte that "The only secure computer is powered off and in a block of concrete..." He couldn't understand why they all burst out laughing.
spaf is the author of the statement that "The only truly secure system is one that is powered off, cast in a block of concrete and sealed in a lead-lined room with armed guards - and even then I have my doubts." (I had a subscription to "Scientific American" back then, and recall reading the original Dewdney column. It's possible the kid wasn't born then ...)
