1. Quantum computing holds the potential to drive transformative breakthroughs across various industries, including logistics to pharmaceuticals and finance. However, such capabilities also introduce the “quantum threat” – sufficiently powerful quantum computers could undermine the cryptographic systems safeguarding existing digital infrastructure. This would endanger core business functions such as secure communications, financial transactions, and identity management, potentially disrupting operations, exposing critical data and eroding trust.
2. To address this risk, organisations must promptly initiate the transition of their cryptographic assets and systems to quantum-safe solutions. Although the timeline for quantum threat remains uncertain, proactive preparation is essential. The migration to quantum-safe solutions is a complex multi-year endeavour that needs early planning, resource allocation and coordination across systems, products, and processes.
3. To support organisations in their planning and preparation, CSA has launched two initiatives, in collaborations with public and private stakeholders, for public consultation:
