OK, *now* we're in trouble ...

For some reason, on the Johns Hopkins CoVID-19 dashboard, Canada, as a country, has disappeared.  (If you switch to the province/state/dependency mode, the individual provinces with infections still show up.)

This is disturbing, for someone who lives there ...

Well, it's probably appropriate that I attempt to make my swan song here.

Last year, when ISC2 suspended my cert, I started having trouble signing on to
*any* of the ISC2 sites. Inlcuding the "community." (Which is rather odd, since
most of the "community" is open to the entire world, and anyone can create an
account, and anyone can read almost anything on the "community" even without
an account. Even I still can. I just can't post any more.) For some reason, as
long as I opened a browser window into the "community" every couple of days,
my account stayed active. But I suspected that it wouldn't last.

And whatever cookie, or bug, or missing login check has allowed me to continue
has finally died.

So, I guess this is farewell. For the elder among you, take care of the newbies for
me. For the newbies, read "Security Engineering." Sorry that I won't be able to
post any more "CISSP questions."

No, go wash your hands, and, for those in India, Brazil, and the USA, wear a mask
when you go out.

[A]fter the Aurora, Colo. shootings ... the air was thick with
calls to avoid `politicizing' the tragedy. That is code,
essentially, for `don't talk about reforming our gun control
laws.' Let's be clear: That is a form of politicization.

I've already got a backlog of things to post, like:
https://twitter.com/MaryLTrump/status/1285752790011318272
that I can't post directly here because a) not having an account anymore I can
only reply to posts made by other people in the topic area I want to address, and
b) even with the "reply-via-email" function, it doesn't support posting graphics.

(I'm a little surprised that nobody has posted anything in CISSP questions asking
for more questions ...)

Indeed your voice will be missed, at the very least by me. Always enjoyed the back and forth discussion, even if I rarely disagree with your opinion on certain topics.

Take care!

A number of people have reported receiving unsolicited packages of seeds with markings or labels in Chinese.

Whatever they offer you, DON'T FEED THE PLANTS!!!

(I understand that the latest theory about these things is that the vendor is engaged in a practice called "brushing," where the vendor creates fake positive reviews of their product, but requires "real" customers in order to do so.  The vendor is "creating" customers by sending packages to random-but-real people.  The vendor, in this case, may be selling jewelry, and the packages may contain seeds because a) seeds are cheaper, and b) seeds are lighter to mail.)

One of the reasons that there is so much misinformation during the pandemic crisis is that people are a) generally fairly ignorant about medical matters, and b) scared enough to believe anything.

Another reason is paywalls ...
