North Korea targets security researchers

We all wanna help our colleagues, right?

 

So when you get an email from someone who is having trouble determining whether his newly discovered vulnerability is exploitable, or wanting to know some details of internals, you'll lend a hand, right?

 

Which is the type of social engineering that North Korea has been trying to exploit in specifically targetting security researchers ...

Probably not the North Koreans but I have received "offers" in the past to collaborate from people I am not familiar claiming to be college students and the like.

 

This however appears to be much more sophisticated.

That part vaguely reminded me of an event during the Michelangelo virus, when a
colleague was called by someone and wanted a consult as a "professional" favour.
His question was, "What's a 'boot sector'?"
