Microsoft admits Russian state hack still not contained.

Hi All

Well done Microsoft once again, can you be trusted at all, even with central government data?

Tarnished reputation, and everything appears to be at stake....

Heh, remember Windows ME,,,? Then early XP?

Microsoft tends to work closely cyclically on security, improving when enough eyes are watching and it’s in it’s commercial interest, for example around 2008/9 we saw a huge uptick in application attacks particularly adobe because of the increased work going into widows in version Seven(yes it was NT 6.1) but that arguably stated in Vista, it just took a long time to feed through.

They’ll need to address this operationally before the market/regulation demands they engineer things properly. Different area, similar root cause, short term commercials driving things.

@Early_AdopterHow about DOS too?  5.25 inch disks, and 3.5 inch disks etc.

And just then IBM changed the world with OS2/Warp… oh hang on it diddent and lost the desktop forever…. 🙂

Frankly for all the bad Microsoft did, it did a lot of good in breaking the king between hardware and OS, and that’s allowed a real opening up of everything.

Better use open source stuff it’s its security critical though - at least you can understand it.
