In advance of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the Japanese government is going to try out default passwords and credential stuffing on Internet of Things type devices within Japan.
Owners of breached devices will be asked to bolster their cybersecurity.
Since there have been cyber attacks at a number of recent Olympic events, this is probably a very good idea. It's probably a good idea anyway.
Most people don't take the risks seriously until they find out that they've been victimized, so I can appreciate the government giving them a nudge...
(I'd love to see something like this in my home country --- but I suppose that'll remain a fantasy for a long time)
