Facebook fact checking losing supports ...

Facebook has been paying Associated Press and the Snopes site to help combat fake news on the Facebook site.

 

Fact-checking firms have been frustrated by Facebook's lack of transparency in this regard.

 

Snopes and AP are pulling out of the Facebook contracts.

I wouldn't be surprised if Facebook attempted to pay them 'under the table,' and subsequently, we're seeing that the table is wobbling --- though there's no telling exactly how that happened...

Smoke and mirrors comes to mind. It's a PR stunt to pacify those that don't dig deep. Those companies aren't interested in getting their reputations besmirched from FB's antics so they bailed.
