The FBI have published their latest Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) report and the numbers are staggering:
- Cyber-crime losses exceeded $12.5 billion (22% increase YoY)
- 880,418 complaints (10% increase YoY)
- Investment scam losses of $4.57 (38% increase YoY)
- Business Email Compromise (BEC) cost $2.9 billion
- In comparison, REPORTED ransomware incidents only costs victim organisations just $59.6 million
Cryptocurrency scams were up 53% and resulted in $4 billion of losses.
