Time to start thinking through the After COVID-19 situation and the way it is changing peoples lives and how they plan to work in the near future. Remote working for instance may continue or some may prefer to work from home without social contact in the office with people or have to deal with social distancing i.e. 1 metre apart? Or only have gatherings of 50 people internally and perhaps 500 externally?
Or when we are in public wear masks (what value this provides) but paranoia is stepping in from my experience. There needs to be a balance, and some hard facts realised and transformation conducted on how resilient organisations actually did not handle the situation or it was not in their Incident Response playbooks etc?
People thoughts welcomed - we are going to get through this, but we need to be prepared to deal with the after math.
Wish we all had a crystal ball to look into the future.
Since we had such a big turnout to the first webinar and had so many questions/comments that we couldn't get to all of them, we are hosting a part 2 to our first COVID-19 webinar on May 19. Part of the conversation will be about re-opening offices. Hope you can join us! Feel free to submit any questions and discussion points ahead of time to me and I'll try to get them included in the discussion.
Continuing the Conversation: What We’ve Learned From the COVID-19 Outbreak
On April 28, 2020, (ISC)2 hosted a diverse panel of cybersecurity professionals who discussed the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on their IT operations and cybersecurity teams. The first webcast, in this series, generated a great deal of interest, discussion and questions from the audience. We will continue the conversation on May 19, 2020 to tackle the questions and discussions that continue to be raised during this ongoing crisis. This second webcast will be devoted to the economic impact (budgets slashed with no revenue coming in) due to the shutdown caused by COVID-19. In addition, we’ll discuss what re-opening an office may look like and how the current situation affects individuals both physically and emotionally. Join the conversation to share your thoughts and gain insight into how your team can continue to handle this changing situation.
Well here in New Zealand, as we are doing relatively well compared to many other nations around the world, we have just had the 1 PM Prime Ministers announcement. Next Monday after the Cabinet Office meeting and decision, we will probably go into COVID-19 Lockdown Level 2.
