CCSP exam retake

Do I have to pay for every attempt I make for CCSP exam or DO I get 3 attempts to pass in 1 year.

How does the retake policy work for CCSP?

Hi amandavanceISC2

I've failed my first attempt on the CCSP and I want to go with a second attempt.

Does it mean that the price paid for the exam includes 3 attempts at no extra charge? In case it does, what it is the process I do have to follow in order to book the second exam date?

Thanks a lot in advance

Unfortunately, you'll need to pay the full fee again.

From the FAQ:

https://www.isc2.org/Frequently-Asked-Questions#accordion-29bc23be1a3a4eb296321631a61650e0

Q: If I need to retake the exam, do I have to pay the exam fee again?
A: Yes; you will need to pay the full examination fee for each examination attempt.

Also, you will need to wait 90 days from the date of your first exam before you can sit the exam again:

https://www.isc2.org/Register-for-Exam#accordion-e2dd12ee510e4c4791d945a4d0849c26

For the CCSP and HCISPP:

If you don’t pass the exam the first time, you can retest after 90 days.
If you don’t pass a second time, you can retest after an additional 90 days.
If you don’t pass a third time, you can retest after 180 days from your most recent exam attempt.

Amanda did explain all this in her original post in this thread, but I appreciate hearing it could be hard to swallow.

Best of luck with your next attempt!

You  have to pay for the exam every time you take it.

Did the retake policy change in the recent past? The website says it is 30 days for all the ISC2 exams now..

Yes, it appears they have now standardised the retake policy across all exams - I don't how recent this change was though.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the retake for CISSP 30 days? And you are stating CCSP is 90? That seems excessive...

Per the ISC2 Retake policy: https://www.isc2.org/exams/after-your-exam

Retake Policy

For each of the CC, SSCP, CISSP, CCSP, CGRC, CSSLP, CISSP-ISSAP, CISSP-ISSEP, CISSP-ISSMP and HCISPP certification programs, there are two independent rules that govern exam retake attempts:

Test-free days between retake attempts:

  • If you don’t pass the exam on your first attempt, you may retest after 30 test-free days.
  • If you don’t pass the exam on your second attempt, you may retest after 60 test-free days from your most recent exam attempt.
  • If you don’t pass the exam on your third attempt and for all subsequent retakes, you may retest after 90 test-free days from your most recent exam attempt.

Per certification program, at a maximum you may attempt an ISC2 exam up to 4 times within a 12-month period.

Candidates may pursue multiple certifications simultaneously.

The rules have changed over the past few years. IIRC, Alec's post was accurate on 12-16-2019 (when it was made), but a year-ish later, it changed to match the policy in the post Andrea made on 09-18-2023.  It is unclear to which message you are replying, but all in this thread that mention 90-days date back to 2019.
