Let's try this again...Brain not good now...I somehow passed my CISSP. I was one THOUSAND percent certain I failed. I had to answer all 150 questions with about 10 minutes left on the clock. When I was handed that printout that said I provisionally passed, I kind of went through a kind of stages of grief...shock, denial, acceptance, then joy! My brain is still decompressing from that horror of a test. I failed it twice before, so I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. No more late nights studying! No more answering practice question after question after question! No more trying to remember the difference between SSL and TLS!
What did I use to study? Being that I passed, I suppose it might help to know, but to be honest, I really don't know. I used the typical stuff others used: Sybex official CISSP study guide, 8th edition. Their CISSP official practice test book, 2nd edition. Boson exam questions. And literally thousands of practice questions, whatever I could find online.
So good luck out there to those who's taking it soon. I'm not one of those first-time passers in a 100 questions. Third-time passer and proud of it! Now I'm going to celebrate with a nap!
Congrats on the pass! Good luck and hopefully a smooth endorsement process.
***Just as an FYI, don't feel alone thinking you failed the CISSP and then finding out you passed. I can almost say for certain, a large percentage of CISSP holders also felt they failed when they sat for the exam. I was one of them! Well, I did pass on the first attempt, but regardless, the experience is still the same.
Wow! Congratulations!
Congratulations!!!!! That's with 5 exclamation points. 🙂 The sinking failing feeling is more common than ever...I too experienced it during my exam...at one point, I even had to close my eyes and say to myself "I can do this, I got this" to calm myself down... And seeing the word "Congratulations!" on the exam result is such an emotional experience/feeling...more so for you after after taking it the 3rd time and passed! You did it! You persevered and never gave up on your goal in pursuing the CISSP certification...well done and great job!
Please know that this is just the start of your journey of lifelong learning...as InfoSecurity/Cybersecurity/InfoAssurance is a journey too and never an end. Rest/Celebrate/Take a well-deserved break but get back to learning when you're done. Once you've got your endorsement done and be given the CISSP status, you will need to think/plan for your CPEs...which again is learning. 🙂 Cheers!
Oh, by the way, when you will have received your CISSP status, be sure to sign up for the cisspforum mailing list/discussion group...Lots of interesting and witty/funny discussions in there. Even the faq is such a fun and hilarious read---not a slight but a compliment! 🙂
