Going to start studying - From People Who Passed Which Books Should I Buy / Test?

Thank you very much in advance! I realize this might be answered but I am trying to get the most up to date information possible based on the test that's currently out there. My plan is to study books and then tests for two months then give it a try.

I already purchased " (ISC)2 CISSP Certified Information Systems Security Professional Official Study Guide 8th Edition" and should be here tomorrow but I am reading many post about having several reference material to study from so taking everyone's advice. I hope the one I purchased is good?

I used the official study guide, the late great Shon Harris brick, Eric Conrad's books, and a dummies book years ago. The dummies as a quick read to introduce you to the topics, Shon Harris's book as the reference that goes deeper than necessary for many topics, the official guide, and Eric Conrad's books as a condensed, concise coverage of the domains. My test was a few years ago but my point is to not just use one reference. If your local ISSA chapter has a study group, join it. If you learn best by listening, consider getting your study references on Kindle if the publisher enabled text to speech (in the product details on Amazon text-to-speech Yes). The Kindle Fire devices allow playback of TTS-enabled books (The kindle app on other operating systems does not support reading out loud). Once you get used to listening to the content, you may find that you can increase the playback speed to 1.5, 2x or even 3x. This will allow you to listen to the content on your daily commute to work, while doing household chores etc. I answered the test questions in each book I had. You'll run into the occasional error but don't let that stop you from using the questions... it is a great resource to identify knowledge gaps. Cybrary.it is another great resource for free training. Self study is the hardest way to pass the test. I took a class and only about 50% of the people in the class passed. Just really focus and re-read all the info. I used the (ISC)2 CISSP Certified Information Systems Security Professional Official Study Guide 8th Edition that you can get on Amazon for about $50. I also watched a ton of YouTube videos and used the (ISC)2 study guides. When you pass they don't tell you the score, but I felt very confidant when I hit the last button on the exam and think the study guide and tests really set everything up nicely.
