Newcomer I

repost from Chapters

Happy new year all, I received my CISSP certification in October and while I was offered a contract with a company, the project was relatively short term and so I am looking for new opportunities. My background is in science earning a Ph.D. in physiology and over 20 years of software development primarily in C and Java, I had training last year in cyber security that covered many of the cyber sec disciplines (networking, GRC, networking, systems, white box testing, web security, scripting, etc) followed by obtaining the CISSP certification. The problem is that most places are looking for people with several years experience and while I have done some IT management in the course of my software development experience, I lack the specific cyber security experience for nearly all of the positions posted. Any help would be greatly appreciated. On another note, I have been attempting to contact the local Denver (ISC)2 branch but so far have not heard anything from this branch. Does anyone know the contact person(s)? Thanks

Hello!

My name is Paula and I am the (ISC)² Chapter Relations Specialist for North America.

While I am unqualified to assist you with the first part of your posting (job/skills/experience needs), I do work directly with the (ISC)²  Denver chapter.

If you would, please send me your name and email address to chapters@isc2.org and I would be happy to help get you connected with the chapter.

Let me know if you have any questions or need anything else!

Thanks,

Paula
