Consider how you can help inspire a safe and secure cyber world by contributing your expertise to the development of information security credentials. Opportunities to help create and improve (ISC)² examinations are plentiful. (ISC)² holds exam development workshops several times throughout the year in order to update and refresh the item banks and create new exam forms for all the credentialing exams it offers. Workshops are open to all (ISC)² members holding relevant credentials in the subject matter of a workshop.
Workshops are voluntary activities, and (ISC)² does not compensate its members for attending. However, members CAN earn up to 1 CPE (Continuing Professional Education) credit per hour worked when attending a workshop, typically this amounts to 21 CPEs per workshop. Currently we have 3-day virtual workshops and 2-month remote item writing campaigns throughout the year.
(ISC)² workshops are run similarly and follow similar guidelines, however there is a distinction between education workshops and exam development workshops. Education workshops are conducted to prepare study guides for candidates who are preparing to take the (ISC)2 credentialing examinations. Certification exam development workshops are conducted to prepare items for the credentialing examinations that (ISC)² offers. Exam Development workshops are not part of Education side. Exam Development items are created outside of the Education side, not in conjunction with so we don’t bias our items.
If interested in this volunteer opportunity, please email examdevelopment@isc2.org with "Exam Development Volunteer" in the subject line and include your (ISC)² Member ID number in the body copy.
If we have sent an email in the past do we need to send one again, or are we on a list?
Great question. I have submitted my name MANY times and I hold 5 different certs and have not been asked........
If you have sent an email in the past, you should be on the roster for exam development workshops. But to be safe, please send an email to examdevelopment@isc2.org with your (ISC)² member ID number to ensure that you are in fact on the roster.
Please note – being on the roster does not guarantee a spot in our workshops. Due to the high number of volunteers, not all volunteers can be invited to the next available workshop. However, attempts will be made to invite new volunteers to each workshop.
