I have provisionally passed the CCSP exam and speaking as someone who has extensive Cloud and security experience, it is not an easy exam.
While it's still all fresh in my mind, here is some advice I have for anyone preparing to take the exam:
- Have a deep understanding of the material. Simply knowing what something is or what it does is not enough, you have to be able to think critically in answering some of the questions.
- Read and understand the questions. Context is everything, and one word or phrase could make all the difference to what the answer is.
- Manage your time. Don't fall too far behind when it comes to your timing. The exam does not get easier as you go so you need to ensure you're not digging a hole for yourself too early.
I'll add a little more depth to this post when I've had time to reflect. Best wishes!
Thank you and congratulations. I found that CSA and NIST materials were the most helpful on mine. Of course we all learn differently, so whatever works for you is best. Don't forget to celebrate.
I also found the CSA materials very readable and useful. Other useful materials I used were the official study and guide and practice tests, version 4 of the CBK, CCSP for Dummies (surprisingly good), and Learnzapp for practice questions. Plus, videos from Mike Chapple and Gwen Bettwy.
I had completely neglected to celebrate and savour the moment; I'll be getting myself the largest steak I can today:).
It was not available when I took the exam, but I have been getting copies of Gwen's book for those of our folks wanting to take the exam. They really like it. I first became aware of it when ISC2 recommended it. I was studying for the CISM at the time (already had my CISSP and CCSP) and became aware of the book with her as an author. It was really good for the CISM, short and to the point, a relief after reading the ISACA materials. Very smart lady.
Congrats. I am planning to schedule in coming few days. Did you attempt exam in person or CBT(Online)
I took the exam in person. I don't know if it's being offered via online proctoring.
