I Passed the CC Exam

I am happy to announce that I have passed the CC exam successfully.

The online course was beneficial, but you should also consult other sources of information. I went for the "CC Certified in Cybersecurity" study guide by Mike Chapple. You can also try to practice with online CC quizzes available on the ISC2 website and other websites.

How similar is the exam to the practice exam at the end of the course?

The assessment quiz of the course is good for testing your understanding but is not quite the same as the exam. Many questions in the assessment create a scenario and ask about that specific scenario. The exam is different, with no scenario questions, most of the questions are direct and test your understanding of a specific topic, for example:

Which of the following is very likely to be used in a disaster recovery effort?
A. Guard dogs
B. Data backups
C. Contract personnel
D. Antimalware solutions

You will find such questions in the assessment too.

If you mean CompTia Security+, then NO, I don't think about it. Maybe CISSP will be my next goal.

@sanadshuaib While I have CompTIA certifications and have helped hundreds in our workforce with theirs, Security+ no longer differentiates a candidate. The last CompTIA article read bragged at over 700K certified. That is a sort of embarrassing brag and is the competition for employment. Unfortunately DoD started the mess with private industry following. DoD has finally changed their focus to experience and education. Hopefully private industry will follow again. Congratulations on a good start. That is the general knowledge need for the CISSP. If you don’t have the experience, I definitely recommend the SSCP which is similar in content to Security+ but much less expensive ($249 vs $404) and no performance based questions. Best wishes.

3. Do you have Cyber related experience and how long?

FYI - i did the exam earlier this year and I didn't pass - so need to have a better strategy for taking the next test.

I used  Mike Chapples book and LinkedIn Learning resources. I also ended up purchasing his cheat sheet as a fast and easy way to remember the information and created flash cards for myself.

I did do the learning from ISC2 but Mike Chapples resources were what got me over the line.

It took me almost 4 weeks to prepare, but taking the online course helped very much.

2. With the practice quizzes available in ISC2, did you find them helpful, or did you use other sources

I only used the assessment quizzes in the online course, they were helpful to measure my understanding of the subject

3. Do you have cyber-related experience, and how long?

I have an IT background, so it is easier for me to go through some topics related (for example) to networking and network security

If you don't have prior experience in IT or security, take your time to prepare well and don't rush to take the exam.
