Hi all. Not really a new person here but I am trying to find information about a New Hampshire chapter - I see one listed and I've posted to the chapter blog but no luck. And it looks like it's inactive. Anyone know how I can find out more ?
Thanks in advance,
thanks, I'll give that a shot.
appreciate the info
@stvspaz @JoeViellenave Looking at the US chapter list, New Hampshire is not listed. I did find this: community.isc2.org/t5/New-Hampshire-Chapter/cmp-p/grouphub:Chapter_New-Hampshire So I believe that this chapter was stood up in 2020 and did not continue at some point but is not surprising as was during the pandemic. The person listed in that page is a former ISC2 staff member; so they cannot help you with this. What I would try is reaching out to the local ISSA. I could not find a meeting after 2023, but this page has the contacts on it at the bottom: https://www.issanh.org. You might also see if have a local Infragard or ISACA that is active to try and get connections at least in the area to start. Based on what you learn from anyone in these groups, you may want to try and resurrect the chapter. At least you would meet others in the area in other groups to try and have people to attend, or maybe their existing chapters would be of interest to you. I know that setting up a chapter is a lot of work. The person who set up the one in my area only had one organizational and one chapter meeting and then quit; so we have none. Our ISSA chapter could never figure out why he did not reach out to them as have plenty of CISSPs. Best wishes.
HI Nancy,
That's excellent information, thank you!
I honestly don't have a good feel for the time commitment to start a chapter, and, I don't believe I qualify yet to start one based on the duration of my membership. The alternatives you've suggested make sense so I'll look into those a bit and go from there.
I 'met' others from New Hampshire during the Security Congress so collected a few names of others in the area who may be interested. I guess we'll have to see where we go with it.
thanks again
@stvspaz and @JoeViellenave, I'm a flatlander in Massachusetts, now retired, but the ISSA New England chapter was pretty active in the day and still has meetings (I think one coming in December). They might be a good jumping off point. Eastern MA ISC2 chapter I think is also active.
