Sebastian County Arkansas Jail attacking its own technology

The availability of technical solutions is often compromised in jails and institutions across the country. Not only is general access to devices removed from individuals, but the functionalities are regularly regressed and removed by jail administrators to prevent leaks of information. When people die in these institutions, jail administrators like to keep everyone locked down as much as possible and to keep everything as quiet as possible. But the detained are not just prevented from reaching the outside world because of the occasional death. There is disfunction at every technical corner. Payphones reduced in functionality. 2 phone calls per stay. Even if they hold you for 2.5 years waiting for trial, that is all you get and the lawyers are basically blocked from reaching. Zero technical support for tablets. Regular access is so limited that most people can't even type but a paragraph or two a day with no way to save info. All messages you send are automatically deleted so there are no record. Messages you receive delete automatically after a short period of time. If you are severely injured then you are blocked from writing on the kioosk and leaving records. Torture is a part of this world. But every citizen detained in refused their rights to trial, due process, evidence, to fight jurisdiction, and worst. This isn't a black site. This is a county government who is very dangerous and is involved crimes of many varying degrees. They have remained at large for a long time. They have sabotaged communications from with in the jail and they are dangerous. Danger zone

HI @franklim1990    Interesting prison system, sounds as though the actual prison buildings should have been completely built with screening to prevent wireless signals or even IoT devices of any kind from emanating any radio frequencies from within.  If it had been planned at the outset, this would have saved them a huge significant bill and effort having to manage these issues.   Hindsight is excellent, but often we never foresee new threats and the use of technologies.  Possibly they should have built in Faraday cages from the outset.

In other environments, known to be hostile environments, often the local contractors would attempt to drop devices into the cement as it was poured - which if you recall the American Iranian embassy situation, resulted in them actually rebuilding the entire embassy as it turned into a radio beacon effectively - due to bad construction and the lack of involvement of security specialists from the outset.
