How do you secure a smart city? Are we ready for it and can we handle it?

Given today's technology, you cannot.
Are we ready for it
...can we handle it?
This is nowhere near the first time industry and government has rushed to use a new technology, without slowing down to consider possible unintended consequences, or even considering security problems.
In that case, look out for the inevitable hackfest - just hope they have their cyber insurance topped up and their Incident Response team prepared......
To me the title of the article is somewhat oxymoronic - a 'smart city ' should also be a 'secure city', otherwise can't be called 'smart' ...
Of course we all know,'secure' means 'secure base on due diligence', as there is no 100% security.
