Rob,

I have seen that a couple of times, usually when I pull something down form the internet as link.  Typically, it let me post the second time....figured I just had fat fingers.

@Shannon ......I was trying to be nice....I know it's not my fault.

If I cut and paste things into the message.  I get the error to fix something, I do back, nothing highlighted, hit send and off it goes.

Can we call it an "added enhancement"?

Yeah, I've had that experience, too, but, in that case, it usually tells you that there is invalid HTML. In this case, it didn't give me any specific error message, and I tried about half a dozen times without success. (And, then, as noted, eventually succeeded ...)
