Newly qualified CISSP - AMF fees

Just wanting a bit of clarity. I sat and passed the CISSP exam on 4 May 2019, and finally got granted the certification on 22 June 2019, active in the portal on 1 July 2019.

I have now seen a notification that have unpaid AMF fees, is this not included as part of the exam fee for the first year? I thought the AMF fee is for renewing your certification each year?

No, the AMF is not included with your exam fee.

This is because it may be some time after you pass your exam that you apply for the certification.

Because of the change over from the old AMF fee to the new, you may be required to pay your AMF fee for 2019 now.

(if you think ISC2 is strange in this, don't be.  ISACA follows a calendar-year fee schedule.  I got a cert in November, so had to pay the maintenance fee for that year, even tho there was 2 months left in the year.).
