Nowadays, the majority of topics on the community tend to be about issues being faced --- often mentioning a lack of member support --- & one of the community moderators has to jump in to assist.
So I have to ask: was this community actually intended to supplement (ISC)2 support? (Because I was under the impression that it was to facilitate the sharing of information and ideas, and promote interaction among IT security professionals.)
It would be understandable if the issues were limited to what (ISC)2 support wasn't able to address --- what's disturbing is that many have stated that (ISC)2 support never responded at all.
If community posts aren't used to gauge criteria such as member satisfaction, I'd suggest that (ISC)2 conduct a survey for the same --- and use the results to determine the priority with which to address issues.
@david-shearer, do have someone update the resolution status of the issues mentioned in this post, for a better idea of where we stand. Thanks.
@SamanthaO_isc2, in my first post on this thread, I'd requested for a status update regarding the resolution of issues, specifically those mentioned by @AlecTrevelyan in another post.
Apparently the chairman is tied up ATM, so we'd all appreciate it if you could fill in the blanks. The primary thing is the inadequate member support *, which is putting it mildly.
* While the community moderators have been doing a great job providing this, the fact is they could assist if main support is unable resolve issues --- but not have to compensate for a lack of response.
Assuming (ISC)2 has already concluded that they're seriously lacking here, please let us know when we can expect this to be addressed. Thanks.
(I trust the requested information isn't confidential in any way)
And do ISC2 not understand that many of us are members of more than one professional body?
I was only at the IISP Live 2019 event in Birmingham yesterday.
https://www.iisp.org/Live/Event_Details/Live/Event_Details.aspx
It was a good event with knowledge speakers, who were actual practitioners and academics rather than sales people of those looking to promote themselves.
And then there's ISACA, ISSA, OWASP etc.
I don't know if you guys have noticed but point 4 that I raised with David Shearer seems to be fixed now:
4) Problems with the community

Yes, I tried it before I posted. I've become habituated to logging in from the main site, so when it worked I momentarily thought it was a dream.
(I'd assumed that we'd all be told it was done by (ISC)2 rather than have to find out ourselves.)

With both ISACA and (ISC)2 I've always gotten a prompt response whenever I contacted support.
In the case of (ISC)2, all correspondence with support was related to queries, rather than issues --- which might explain why they did get back.
(Either that, or I've just been lucky so far...)

In my dictionary, I said, in the entry for "gold standard," that it was the best practice for describing your standard, if you wanted people to buy into it. (In the entry for "best practice," I said it was the gold standard for security buzzphrases.)
Bravo!
@rslade, you forgot to add a spoiler alert...

Oh, [bad-word-that-the-dreaded-"community"-pr0n-filter-won't-let-me-use].
I have a meeting.
Are these things recorded for later viewing/immersion/wallowing in?
..
..
ISC2 are obviously very proud of what they have achieved so you bet it is!
Well, it's on BrightTALK so, yes, it should be recorded for posterity just like everything else they release on there.
I’m trying sooooo hard to really like isc2 but they do make it hard.
1) had to wait just under 8 weeks for the endorsement
2) when finally sorted had the much publicised SSO issue when trying to pay AMF
3) when that was sorted, had the also-much publicised ‘showing as non-member’ issue
4) when that was sorted - have just found out I can’t access the free CBT I should be able to access!
Gah, it’s a frustrating journey this.
