ISC2 candidate

I’m very new to ISC2 and the industry of cybersecurity in general (just now looking to make a career change into the field) that being said I created a candidate account and am just now realizing that after this first year it’s then a $50/annual fee? Or is that only if I ultimately pass the CC certification test? Also is it possible that if I don’t ultimately pass it could I have them delete my account so I’m not stuck with paying an unnecessary fee in that scenario (hypothetically)

For the One Million Certified in Cybersecurity pledge, (ISC)² provides free training (online self-paced course available for six months) and (ISC)² pays for your exam administration (we provide you a code to use). If you pass the exam, it's $50 per year to maintain the certification. As a member you get many discounts on events, resources, etc. You also get other member benefits.

As a Candidate (learn more about Candidate here: https://www.isc2.org/Candidate)  - if you do not take or pass the exam - it is $50 per year AFTER your first year. Essentially you get your first year as a Candidate for free. If you reach the end of your first year without taking/passing the exam, you can pay the annual dues to keep your account. Or you can let it lapse. You will not be able to access any Candidate benefits if you let your account lapse. But no, you don't need to delete it.

To meet every learner’s needs, we’re also offering two CC training bundles with special extras. Choose the option that’s right for you. https://www.isc2.org/cc-bundles

Please note:
IMPORTANT: Candidates pursuing the Certified in Cybersecurity certification are permitted only one (ISC)² account. Having multiple accounts causes delays in receiving exam results. Creating multiple accounts to avoid a rescheduling fee, circumvent the (ISC)² Retake Policy or to reapply a free exam code is a violation of (ISC)² Exam Policies and may nullify your exam results and/or result in a temporary or permanent ban from (ISC)² exams.
